What's Your Magic Number?

As long as I can remember, I've never woken up and thought, "I'm so glad to be awake." I've always wanted to sleep just a little bit more, snooze 10, 20, 30 more minutes. I'm not a fan of waking up.

I've always wondered, what is the magic number of sleep hours I need to wake up and feel great? Well, the last two nights, I've gone to bed at 8:30 and woken up at 5:30. That's it, ladies and gentlemen. 9 hours of sleep and I feel great. I wake up and am ready to get up, eat breakfast, and be productive.

What's your magic number?

For me it doesnt matter how long I sleep but how early I have to get up. Anything before ten is torture.

According to psychology, you are to choose a day where you know the following morning you will not have to wake up or be woken up. The day before, (you should have had a fairly restful day, you know...it shouldn't be a day where you pulled an all nighter the night before) you go to bed as soon as you are tired. Sleep. When you wake up you should have the total number of sleeping hours your body requires. Now, if we all lived on our own little deserted island with no worries and all the time in a day to sleep (without early morning phone calls and responsibility (aside from harpooning our breakfast) we might be able to perform this little test. I never have, but I think mine is 10 hrs. If my bladder didn't interfere so often it might be 12.

6-7 hours is good for me. I can't do much less than that anymore.

Whew! I'm kindof glad I don't have to harpoon my breakfast. Fish in the morning sounds awful. I'll stick my mixture of Bran Flakes and Frosted Flakes. (The frosted are so the bran doesn't taste like bran)

I need 6 most nights, but some nights I need 8 or nine. Those all nighters changed for me about 15 years ago. :-(

9 hours? I haven't slept 9 hours straight in 9 years. Kids KILL sleep! I have forgotten what it feels like to wake up just because I'm done sleeping. No alarm, no kids, just because my body is ready to wake up.

The good old days......
