First Dates
I got a blog idea from my friends at work. They were discussing first dates and they wanted me to take a poll from you all. Think back to a first date. How would you feel about someone paying for your first date meal with a gift card or a coupon? Now I know some of you might actually be the ones paying, so here's a question for you. If you were at a restaurant and in your wallet you had a coupon or gift card for that restaurant would you use it or save it for later? Let me know what you think.

I probably wouldnt even think about it if someone else paid using a coupon or a gift card... I know what it's like to be poor. HOWEVER if I were the one paying I wouldnt use either. Ive never actually used a coupon at a resturant... dont you have to be like over 50 to be able to use those?
I would never use a coupon or gift card on a first date. Waaayyyy uncool.
Not cool.
At first I thought: no way. Upon further reflection, it would depend upon how the date was going. If I wasn't into her, I'd break out the gift card; maybe it would help make for an easier getaway!
Of course I am thinking back to my premarital dating status...
No coupons or gift cards allowed on a first date! However(!), I do remember one date when I had NO more money and the function I was at required more money, therefore I would have given my right arm at the time to have a coupon, giftcard, traveler's check, gold bars, foodstamps, Aggiebucks, greenstamps or even a certifiable I.O.U. But no - I had nothin'! EMMBARRAASSING. After 2 full minutes of 'AWKARD,' the lady just said, "don't worry about it!" Gotta love mercy!!!!!!
I would think, "What a thrifty guy," then ask myself, "Does this person think or have anything to talk about?"
I've never been in this situation but I think I wouldn't mind if my date payed the bill with a gift card or coupon or whatever... as long as I could feel that he was being open and honest about his situation. I would have no problem sharing the bill either (if the guy was poor and I could afford it) but I guess that's more a brazilian thing than an american tradition... In Brazil, inviting somebody to eat out doesn't ALWAYS mean that you are paying. Especially among young people... Anyway, now I'm getting used to the american tradition and I like it regardeless if I'm invited or if I'm the one inviting, it's fun to treat friends ant to be treated!
Umm...why fault others for saving money Besides...who doesn't feel special when somebody uses their gift card on you?!! that is pretty huge I think...to be gift card worthy...man.
